Powell “Beatnicks Tape #2″ [zshare]

Spotted this one @ strictlybeats, which hosts a multitude of instrumentals for fellow beat conneiusures and spitters who need ammunition to get their bars up. French producer Powell offers some good bugged-ness for your starship travels. Some of these are a bit too bugged for me, but most of it bangs. And the cover is very, very strange. Enjoy.

KMD “What A Niggy Know?”
[Song - mp3] [Instrumental - mp3]

One of the craziest joints ever. Ever. As a high schooler, I enjoyed KMD’s first one, Mr. Hood, so when I saw this cassette single sitting on the shelf, I copped it immediately. The cover was wild, with Subroc sitting on the ground holding a machete. So I knew it would be bugged, but MAN!!! I wasn’t ready. I just couldn’t process someone having the gall to chop Jodi Watley up like that and then put hard drums over it. I was puzzled. After it sank in though, this became THE ANTHEM! This can also be considered the birth of DOOM’s Operation Doomsday style if you think about it. The beat was waay too futuristic for the game, and Doom and Subroc ripped it to pieces. It’s just the wildest way to come back for your second album. I miss those days. But yeah, turn it up loud!

Count Bass D Dublab MPC Session [mp3]

Count Bass dropped by Dublab a short while ago and played an improv set with the MPC, sampling classic records on the spot and chopping them into mince meat. This podcast is a document of true sampling experimentation and should be studied to gain worthwhile understanding. Students, pull out your pens and notebooks and pay full attention.
